ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Life presents us with various challenges and opportunities. We can’t foresee what life will offer us, but we can prepare ourselves by doing what is in our power, to strengthen ourselves physically and mentally.

My journey to seeking strategies of self-care grew out of stressful periods in my life, during which I felt overwhelmed and vulnerable. My desire to change my life and get back on track led me on a long and winding road through consciousness raising seminars, alternative health modalities, yoga, meditation, body work, and finally, following an inner directed life path, into meaningful work doing massage therapy.

Some ideas I explored did not fit; others became incorporated into my life. It’s important for you to experiment and explore ideas and practices to discover what strategies fit your personality. I read books, and took seminars/workshops, to see what resonated with me. Sometimes you learn about yourself by what you don’t like, as well as what you do.

I began in high school reading books on psychology, and after traveling around through various other topics have arrived back there again. My endless quest for understanding the mind/body has come full circle, and my goal is to stay as active and healthy as I can to continue on this fascinating odyssey.
